About AMC - Your other family doctor since 1983

Dr. Marc Leven founded the Animal Medical Center of Wyoming in March of 1983 with a staff of two – himself and one licensed veterinary technician. The original facility was established with a vision of providing comprehensive, high quality medical and surgical care for small companion animals to clients in southwest Grand Rapids and continues to be a leading animal hospital in Michigan. Our clinic is a member of the mere 15% of veterinary hospitals nationwide to be accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA).

Only as good as our staff

We hate to brag, but we have a phenomenal staff! Many of our veterinarians and support staff have been here well over five years, some as long as 20+ years. Read more on our staff bio page (Meet the Staff)

See Inside AMC in our clinic video

Over the last few months many clients and pets allowed us to photograph them in and around AMC. We are proud to announce our first ever Inside AMC video. We wanted to share our great staff and clinic with the world. We love working with you and your pets and we hope it shows!

What our clients have to say

We LOVE the staff here. The best vet clinic in West Michigan by far! Always so helpful and caring towards you and your furbabies. They are very knowledgeable, present options and prices clearly, and always work with you to get the best care for your pet. They definitely go above and beyond. I recommend AMC to everyone I know. Kita and Luna are treated like family here & love Dr. Josh & Dr. Vincent! Take your pet to AMC! You will not be disappointed.

Victoria A.

I have been taking my fur babies here for 18 years! The love and dedication they have for our fury family members is True to the heart! The medical care is constantly updating with new methods and treatments to care for our pets! They are honest and always put the “pet patient” first and what is best for them!

We are Cat Friendly!

Our love for extends beyond soft warm towels and quiet exam rooms. Read below about our Gold Standard for Cat Friendly veterinary practices, since 2013.

We cater to cats at AMC.  Their comfort is our priority.  We have been delivering gold-level, cat friendly service since becoming endorsed by the American Association of Feline Practitioners in 2013.  This means that when you arrive, you may enter through our “cat” entrance which is situated near our cat quiet waiting area, away from barking dogs. You’ll also be given a Feliway towel to drape over your cat’s carrier.

The Feliway towels do two things: give cats more privacy, and help them relax with the use of pheromones. Feliway is a facial pheromone product available as a spray, diffuser, or a wipe. It mimics the smell of home and can help cats feel more at ease.  Since becoming Cat Friendly, we have noticed an increase in general cat well being. Once in the exam room, cats are free to explore and have generally better experiences overall at the veterinary office. We have two cat exclusive exam rooms with cozy furniture and Feliway diffusers for comfort.

Did you know not all cat carriers are alike?  Safely transporting your cat to the veterinary office is often the first step to making your visit go smoothly. The best type of cat carrier is rigid (hard plastic) with a removable top.  The top lid is ideal for cats who may feel more secure being cradled by the carrier and therefore less likely to exit through the front door.

In our treatment area, we recycle cardboard boxes into “Cat Huts.” They allow cats to have a quiet, private area while in the hospital.

Talk about an “AAHA” moment

AAHA® ACCREDITED FOR ALMOST 40 YEARS!
Our clinic is a member of the mere 15% of veterinary hospitals nationwide to be accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA)®. AAHA is the only organization that accredits animal hospitals throughout the United States and Canada. Hospitals that are AAHA-accredited voluntarily choose to be evaluated on 900 standards in eighteen areas.

Accreditation helps veterinary hospitals stay on the leading edge of veterinary medicine and provide the quality and range of services you and your pet deserve.
